Coastal areas and beaches may seem safe places for a day out, but there are many potential hazards you may encounter. The information on this website will help you to stay safe at the coast.

There are many hazards you may encounter on Folkestone’s coast.

When visiting the coast, you should always:

  • Plan your trip in advance by checking weather forecasts, tide times, and area safety information.
  • Let someone know where you are going, and what time you will be back.
  • Charge your mobile phone and take it with you.

In an emergency, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
