Posted on in IncidentsAdd Comment

At 11.00am today, a member of the public informed us that a gentleman had slipped on the steps at the far end of the promenade and was in need of medical assistance.

A lifeguard was dispatched with medical kit and located the gentleman on the stairway just above the rocks at the far end of the beach. After an initial assessment, we were concerned that there could be a potential spinal injury.

An ambulance was called, and it was agreed that due to the difficult location and the risk of further injury that our priority would be to assist the ambulance team in getting to the casualty’s location.

A second lifeguard was requested for further assistance and together with South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAMB) the gentleman was safely recovered from the steps and into the ambulance.

On behalf of the team, we would like to wish the gentleman concerned a speedy and full recovery.
