The Met Office have issued an Amber warning for Sunday 9th February 2020.

Storm Ciara is expected to bring very strong winds to the South East region through much of the day. Gusts of 70 to 80 mph are likely along the coast, and 55 to 65 mph in inland areas. Heavy rain will accompany the strong winds leading to very poor driving conditions.

The Met Office is warning of injuries and danger to life from large waves and beach material being thrown onto coastal roads, sea fronts and properties.

Due to the potential danger to life, we recommend that people avoid the beach and coastal areas this weekend, particularly on Sunday.

The Met Office also warn to expect potential damage to buildings, road and bridge closures, power cuts, and longer journey times and cancellations in the South East region.

Advice on how to stay safe in a storm can be found on the Met Office website.
